Slick Cities' win comfortably
Cities improved on the competition ladder after soundly beating Mitchell Magpies at home.
A dominant first half which seven Roma tries were scored set up the comfortable win.
Despite a moment of individual brilliance from Magpies half-back Thomas Kennedy who ran 80 metres for the games first try, Cities hardly looked threatened.
Stout goal line defence and dominating the middle of the ground gave them a 38-4 lead at the break.
Any faint hope of a miracle comeback was quashed six minutes into the second half when Tyson Jackson went under the posts for Cities' eighth try.
Cities were dominant with ball in hand, as their forwards marched up the field with ease.
Regular errors from the Magpies killed off most attacking raids.
Cities piled on three more tries and a consolation try to Mitchell finished the game at 62-10.
Coach Scott Hilton said he was pleased with his side's performance.
"There are still things we need to work on but the performance was good,” Hilton said.
"We had a few boys out his week and I was very happy with the reserve grade boys steeping up and keeping our team strong.
"I thought our composure was very good and we handled he ball very well.”
Cities now have their sights set on their biggest game of the year thus far against the Red Bulls next weekend.
Cities will have home field advantage for the fixture.
The Magpies will be hoping for an improved performance next Sunday against Miles.
