NEW Sydney Sixers captain Nic Maddinson has fond memories of his last visit to the Adelaide Oval.

The left-hander smashed 85 from 48 balls in January to set up a semi-final victory against the Strikers in front of a BBL-record crowd of 52,633.

Tonight's match between the teams is another sell-out, and Maddinson will no doubt be looking for a repeat knock after taking over the Sixers' captaincy from Moises Henriques (calf) this week.

Henriques will miss the remainder of the tournament after sustaining a high-grade tear in his left calf in the five-wicket loss to the Melbourne Stars on Sunday night. His place in the Sixers squad has been taken by New South Wales Academy product Charlie Wakim (pictured).

The 24-year-old earned his chance after making a recent half-century against the Shaun Tait-led Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy side.

Teenage spinner Riley Ayre, 19, has been recalled after Stephen O'Keefe joined the Australian squad to prepare for the third Test against the West Indies at the SCG. And opener Ed Cowan is expected to play in Adelaide in place of all-rounder Trent Lawford.

The Strikers will be keen to bounce back from their disappointing seven-wicket loss to the Sydney Thunder on Monday night.

Batting first, Adelaide didn't recover after losing openers Tim Ludeman first ball and Craig Simmons for one, veteran Brad Hodge playing almost a lone hand with 34 as it struggled to 9-117.
