Sienna ready to lead the way with Girl Guides
ROMA’S Sienna Ali will be turning five next week - meaning she’ll finally be able to join Girl Guides.
The club will be holding its annual Day Camp tomorrow morning, with dozens of youngsters like Sienna starting their own Girl Guide journey.
Sienna’s mother Amy Rickleman, who also started out as a Girl Guide when she was five, said the skills they would learn with the club would be handy throughout their lives.
“We do a lot of things around orienteering, knot-tying - basic life skills,” she said.
“I started when I was five and did 10 years at Girl Guides in Brisbane and the funny thing is you don’t realise how much you were glad you learnt the skills until you needed them.”
On top of the learning possibilities, Ms Rickleman said she was excited to see her daughter mix with girls she wouldn’t normally talk to.
“I got to mix with girls outside of school in Girl Guides, so it’s great for socialising,” she said.
Spots are still available for the Day Camp, but people interested must book their places by the end of the day to secure them.
