Wallumbilla Show a certain starter in 2013
THE Wallumbilla Showgrounds will be ready for this year's Show, according to the Wallumbilla Town Improvement Group.
The bi-monthly meeting on Thursday heard that work was continuing on the makeover of the facility but it would be ready in time for the May 4 Show.
Town Improvement Group President Graham York said most of the heavy lifting had been done by the community in several working bees and more were planned.
"There has been over a thousand hours of volunteer labour so far," he said.
"The arena, water and power in Phase 1 have all been done and there will be a working bee to bring the stables back."
Mr York said the council was still working with the Department of Main Roads to ensure access to the venue from the highway was sufficient to allow large trucks to enter and leave.
The Pony Club is also looking for a venue on site to store their gear and there may be options with a new shed which would convert into a chook display area during the show.
"There are still a few issues to resolve but we need to learn to crawl before we can walk," Mr York said.
The Campdraft Society said they would be unlikely to stage a campdraft this year but were looking at a school in June and a camp in July.
The longer term proposal for the showgrounds would see a football arena installed so the Red Bulls could move in by 2014-2015.
