Shoot-out: Neighbour dispute leaves one wounded

A DISPUTE between neighbours near Grafton led to a shoot-out that left one man with a gunshot wound to his arm and three men facing serious charges.

The 41-year-old man who fired the shot phoned Grafton police after the 29-year-old and a 37-year-old began shooting at him on his property on Stockyard Creek Rd on Saturday.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command attended a short time later and arrested a 37-year-old man and a 29-year-old man.

The 41-year-old man who made the call was also arrested and all three were taken to Grafton Police Station.

All three men were refused bail and are expected to appear at the Parramatta Bail Court today.

Police believe the shooting resulted from a dispute between neighbouring property owners.

The 29-year-old man was treated for a gunshot wound to his upper left arm and then charged with discharging a firearm with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

The 37-year-old man was charged with discharging a firearm with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

The 41-year-old man was charged with firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure a person, reckless wounding, the use of an unauthorised firearm and possessing an unauthorised firearm.

None of the three men are licensed firearms holders and none of the weapons used are registered.
