SHOCK GOLD: Australian Chloe Esposito wins pentathlon

AUSTRALIAN pentathlete Chloe Esposito has made a stunning comeback to win gold at the Rio Olympics. 

The 24 year-old from Sydney was placed seventh and was well off the pace needed to even make the podium going into the running and shooting discipline. 

 

 

However in one of the biggest turnaround victories so far during this Olympic games Esposito - who was trailing b y a whopping 45 seconds - got on the track and the shooting range and displayed speed and accuracy which saw her end the event atop the dais. 

Her final time of 12 minutes, 10 seconds. 19 earned her 1372 points was a new Olympic record.
