Severe storm warning for Maranoa

SEVERE thunderstorms are being predicted for Roma and the Maranoa, the Darling Downs and Granite Belt for later this afternoon.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a warning at 2.45pm for damaging storms, wind and possible hail over the next few hours.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have advised people to:

 - Move their cars under cover or away from trees 
 - Secure loose outdoor items
 - Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees 
 - Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm
 - Beware of fallen trees and powerlines
