Several exciting events are scheduled to go ahead this year, after a series of cancellations to some of the best events the Maranoa has to offer.

Here are just some of the events advertised for the coming year.

JANUARY 25 and 26: Australia Day

Celebrate Australia Day on Tuesday, January 26 with Australia Day Awards and plenty of activities happening around the Maranoa to keep everyone entertained!

Events will be held across the region in Mitchell, Surat, Wallumbilla, Yuleba, Jackson, Roma and Injune.

This year the region will have three Australia Day Ambassadors joining our celebrations!

  • Justine Christerson, Founder of Breaking Down the Barriers (a rural patient support program)
  • Olivia Hargroder, Actor, community advocate and has addressed the United Nations
  • Taj Pabari, is one of Australia’s youngest and most successful social entrepreneurs.

The Club Hotel

  • The Club Hotel are holding an Australia Day pre-party on Monday, January 25 6pm-12am
  • Show your true blue Aussie style – prizes for best dressed bloke and shiela
  • Australia Day inspired menu and drinks

FEBRUARY 6: Club run

An event organised by the Roma Historical Motor Club Inc.

  • Trip to Studley – 47kms from Roma on the Mount Abundance Road. According to the Facebook event, the club has been invited to check out David and Jenny Sullivan’s collection and tour around the garden. The event includes morning tea and lunch in the garden.

FEBRUARY 6: Roma Rugby 7’s competition

Head down to the Roma Echidnas oval to see over 40 teams compete in Queensland’s toughest Rugby 7’s matches.

  • Women’s competition, men’s elite competition, men’s social competition

FEBRUARY 8: Super Bowl at the Royal on Ninety-Nine

Join the hotel for Super Bowl LV on Monday, February 8 with the doors opening at 6am.

MARCH 20: Queensland Ag Shows AGM

Queensland Ag Shows are taking their AGM on the road each year to meet the long standing members who can’t always make it to the southeast.

Free of charge event, but you must have a ticket to attend.

Agenda: General meeting, open board meeting, next generation committee annual general meeting, light refreshments.

MARCH 26-28: Roma Picnic Races and black tie ball

After last year’s event was cancelled due to COVID-19, this year is expected to be bigger and better!

  • Friday, March 26 – Black Tie Ball with Brisbane band Groove Element. Roaring 20s Great Gatsby themed.
  • Saturday, March 27 – 5 race program with $69,500 prize money
  • Tickets on sale Australia Day

MAY 8: A Taste of Ireland

‘A Taste of Ireland―The Irish Music and dance Sensation’ ​returns with a performance that is ‘Celtic―for this decade’.

Laugh, cry and jig into the night with a show that has entertained thousands.

Hot off its premiere New York City run in 2020 and with over 120 shows in 2019 across Australia and New Zealand, ​‘​A Taste of Ireland’ finally returns down under.

Experience the performances that have brought the house down night after night around the world as ​‘A Taste of Ireland’ wows audiences in 2021.

Held at the Roma Cultural Centre from 7.30-9.30pm.
