Saleyards expo in Roma

IN WHAT will be the Roma saleyards' 50th year of operation, the Maranoa Regional Council succeeded in its bid to host the 2019 Australian Livestock Markets Association National Expo in Roma.

The expo, which will incorporate the ALMA annual general meeting, will be an opportunity for saleyards and lairage owners and operators to visit Roma, participate in a tour of saleyards during its redevelopment, as well as tour beef enterprises.

Cr Peter Flynn, portfolio chair for Roma saleyards, said the council was thrilled to have an opportunity to show those in the livestock industry what Roma and the Maranoa has to offer.

"This is a great achievement for council and the Roma saleyards, espec- ially with 2019 being Roma saleyards' 50th year of operation,” Cr Flynn said.

"We look forward to host- ing this special event - 2019 will be a busy and exciting year for Roma saleyards.”

ALMA represents and promotes the interests of saleyards and lairage owners and operators.

The date is yet to be finalised however it is likely to be held in July.
