Roma’s Rotary Club installs a lifesaving project
ROTARY Club members, volunteers and local youngsters banded together during the weekend to kickstart a bunch of upgrades planned for the rotary park in Roma.
Project ‘Blue Poles’ an initiative from the club, hopes to protect residents enjoying the park from nearby traffic.
“We started this project before COVID-19 restrictions, however the lockdown limited the club’s ability to organise a working bee to finish the project,” Rotary Club president Scott McDonell said.
During the weekend, with help from locals, the club was finally able to complete the installation and it proved to be effective straight away.
“It worked immediately as a vehicle lost control and collided with a pole only two blocks from the park while the members were undertaking the project,” he said.
The club also intends to install more playground equipment and upgrade the drinking water facilities at the park over the coming months.
“We hope to provide more outdoor space and equipment that local Roma youth can enjoy,” Mr McDonell said.
