Roma’s Rob and Don head on cross-country adventure
ROB Smart and Don ‘Digger’ Brosnan have been mates for more than a decade – but will they be able to stand each other after being in a car together for 15 days?
“We’ll either come home as enemies or best mates,” Mr Brosnan said jokingly.
The pair will be driving one of more than 50 cars in the Port to Perth Road Boss Rally, which leaves Port Macquarie today and will take them through some of Australia’s harshest environments.
By the time they arrive in Perth on June 25, they will have traversed through parts of Australia not open to the public.
The rally raises much-needed funding for GIVIT, a not-for-profit that connects those who have something with those who need it, in a private and safe way.
Mr Smart, who manages Alpine Refrigeration, and Mr Brosnan, the namesake behind Don Brosnan Tyres, have never done a rally together before, but that doesn’t mean they’re inexperienced.
“I’ve done five Endeavour Rallies, and Don has also done one,” Mr Smart said.
They have already raised $5400. To donate go to mycause.com.au /events/roadboss and select Car -20.
