Roma’s favourite video store clerks are saying good-bye

ANTOINETTE Forbes and Bill Deaville have always considered themselves “entertainers” – well the show is finally over.

The married couple, who have worked and owned Roma’s last video store for 15 years, is moving back home to be closer to family.

Having employed nearly 100 people in their time, many of them kids working their first jobs, Antoinette said she had loved working in Roma.

“When we first started here we had VHS and PS1 games,” she said.

“We were just thinking to ourselves the other day that we’ll have to rent our own movies from now on!

“We get paid to entertain so our customers are always keen to have a chat and so we get to know everyone.

“We’ve employed about 80 kids over 15 years – now the ones that first started here have grown up and gotten married.”

Antoinette wanted to assure loyal customers there would still be a video store after the franchise agreement ends this month.

“It’s going to trade as per normal – it will still be a video store with the new owner – just a paint and name change,” she said.
