Roma's Emilee Cherry less than 100 mins away from Olympic Gold
RUGBY SEVENS: Emilee Cherry is potentially less than 100 minutes away from Olympic Gold.
The Roma girl, who turned her talents in touch footy into rugby sevens stardom in the World Series, and her teammates only need to play six great games (each worth 14 minutes) in Rio to anoint themselves as the best in the world.
Australia will play pool matches against Colombia, Fiji and the United States next week, before needing to fight their way through the quarters, semis and final to achieve success.
Speaking to the Western Star in June, Cherry said her side were ready to back up their World Series title this year with a gold medal.
"We've got to believe we can win - if you don't, you don't have a chance,” she said.
YOU can catch Emilee and Australia in action on Channel 7 on Sunday when they take on Colombia around 2.30am and Fiji at 7.30am.
