Roma woman raises money for family that lost everything in fire
THIS Roma woman is encouraging the community to pop into the bottle-o for more than a six-pack.
Isabelle Keegan is hoping the community will join her in raising as much money as she can for her close family friends who lost absolutely everything in this morning’s inferno which tore through a Wyndham St home and left two vehicles destroyed.
Ms Keegan’s son Ben is best mates with Will, the man who discovered a small fire about 5am this morning in their house before rushing his partner out of the home.
When firefighters arrived, the home was completely engulfed, forcing crews to ensure neighbouring houses would not go up in flames.
“I just want to help them as much as I can and raise as much money as I can for them,” Ms Keegan said.
“They’re very close to me, I’ve known them for years.
“Hearing the news was devastating.
“Materialistic items can be replaced like clothes and cars, but I just hope I can raise some money for the three of them and it will be given straight to them to get them back on their feet.”
She hopes to reach $200 by tonight but thanks to the support of the community, she’s already hit $150 in the space of a few hours.
“It’s just what small communities do at times of need,” she said.
