Roma Tennis Club enjoys membership explosion

PRESIDENT of the Roma and District tennis club Baden Waldron has seen a lot for 15 years in the role, and he is very pleased with another good year of tennis.

Mr Waldron said it has been another great year of tennis, with strong numbers as the year comes to a close.

"The quality or tennis has been very good, from both seniors and juniors," he said.

"We had 72 players in the first season, and numbers are always increasing over the summer and winter months."

Mr Waldron said it was great to see the younger generation involved in the sport.

"The juniors are the future of our club; we have 95 juniors being coached," he said.

"I'm very please with their development."

Mr Waldron said the club was looking to redevelop the courts to secure the future of tennis in Roma.

"We went to get our courts back in pristine condition to start the New Year, and attract more players when the club starts up again" he said.

"We are always looking for more members to join, tennis is a social sport and you can play till your 80."

The new fixture season will start again in January.

Players interested in joining the club or hiring out the clubhouse can contact Baden Waldron on 0400 225 444.
