Roma post office debuts new look after upgrade

AUSTRALIA Post officially opened the newly renovated post office in Roma on Friday.

Following an investment of close to $700,000, the new post office is designed to make it easier and more convenient for customers to access postal services in a modern environment.

Australia Post state manager Pauline Davis said the new store demonstrated Australia Post's commitment to the Roma community, offering local residents and businesses an innovative range of e-commerce and trusted services, such as passport and tax file number applications.

"Online shopping in Australia continues to grow so the introduction of a newly renovated post office in Roma provides shoppers with access to postal services six days a week in a new, modern environment,” Ms Davis said.

"We know online shopping is very popular in Roma, growing at almost 18.9percent year-on-year.

"Popular categories for locals include variety stores, buying off marketplaces and department stores, up 33percent, as well as fashion, also up 12.4 per cent.

"Our customers' needs have changed substantially over time and our new Roma post office is another great example of how we're changing to meet those needs, investing in the community and demonstrating our commitment to regional Queensland.”

The new store features an extensive range of e-commerce and trusted services, including free 24/7 parcel lockers, to make it even easier for customers to pick up parcels at a time that suits them, and a dedicated parcel collection counter.

"It's been fantastic to officially open the Roma post office,” Ms Davis said.

"For the staff and the customers it's been a long, hard road to get here but everyone will agree it's worth it.”
