Roma police investigating car theft over the weekend
THIEVES went on an illegal all-night joyride throughout Roma on Saturday night after they targeted a business.
Police believe criminals stole a 2011 silver Toyota Hilux from the yard of a business on the western side of town sometime between 7.30pm on Saturday, June 27 and 8.30am, Sunday.
Police later located the vehicle abandoned at Clearview Drive on Sunday morning.
A Roma police officer door knocked residents in the area to see if they had seen or heard anything.
Police are still investigating the matter.
Failed to pay for petrol
POLICE are investigating a driver who filled up his car with petrol then drove off without paying.
At 9.30pm on Friday, a man driving a Blue Hyundai attended to the Caltex Woolworths on Bowen St and Gregory St, filled up his car then drove off. Police investigations are continuing.
Speedster caught drink driving
A 24-YEAR-OLD from Maroochydore was caught speeding and drink driving on the weekend.
At 10.30am on Saturday, police intercepted the male on Howard St where he returned a blood alcohol count of 0.064.
He was also issued a speeding ticket and will appear in the Roma Magistrates Court on August 5.
Clocked going 164km
POLICE intercepted a Lexus driver going 164km.
At 11.45am on Saturday, police intercepted a male travelling more than 50km/h over the Carnarvon Hwy speed limit.
The driver was issued with a $1100 fine an had his licence suspended for six months.
BETWEEN midnight on Saturday and 5am on Sunday, a young female allegedly removed the number plate confiscation notice from her vehicle.
Police charged the 26-year-old woman for removing the notice from the front and back windscreen of her car.
She has been issued with a notice to appear in the Roma Magistrates Court on July 7.
