Roma mum wants you to know 'it's okay not to be okay'
IT IS often hard for mother's to put themselves first and seek help when they need it.
This is what Roma mum Tammy Stapleton has been dealing with and she wants other mums to know it's okay to not be okay.
"When you first give birth you are in a daze and you don't have any clarity so you just focus on getting through each day,” she said.
"The support sort of dwindles away after the first six weeks and it's after then when you really need that care.”
As part of this week's Mental Heath Week program, Ms Stapleton thought it would be great if the could organise a combined playgroup for mothers and their children from all around the region to get together and just talk.
The playgroup ran out of the Maranoa PCYC yesterday.
"I just know how hard it is, struggling with little ones at home and just getting out there and meeting other people,” she said.
"You've got to have people in your life that you can go to and you've got to be open and honest about it.
"It really hit home to me that I need to do something within the community because of what I've gone through so I thought this would be a good idea.”
