Roma is officially Australia's best regional airport, again
IT'S official - Roma has the best regional airport in Australasia, yet again.
Roma Airport's staff and facilities beat out 64 other Qantaslink terminals across Australia and New Zealand to win the prestigious award, which they had also won in 2014.
Manager Peter Flynn said the award, which was mainly judged on the airport's ability to turn around a Q400 aircraft within 25 minutes consistently, was an endorsement of the quality of staff they had working.
"It's a tribute to the staff - we've got three permanent staff here and few work between the airport and our offices,” Mr Flynn said.
"This was totally unexpected, because in 2014 we had more passengers so complaints were worth less against your total feedback.
"We won it mainly for the Best Turnaround Performance, because with the Q400 aircraft, you have to turn it around to be ready within 25 minutes - we consistently had 100% every week for that.”
Baggage handler Eric Kutlak, who along with three others handles check-ins, baggage and everything in between, said he was proud to call himself part of the Roma Airport staff.
"It's a great environment and a great team to work with every day,” he said.
