Roma Hospital still without final completion date
THE new $112.6 million Roma Hospital is still on track to be completed during the second half of the year, despite the coronavirus pandemic.
However, an official opening date has yet to be confirmed.
A South West Hospital and Health Services spokesman said construction work was still on the right path, and that they were working closely with Watpac Construction to manage any risks associated with COVID-19.
“The hospital build is still expected to be completed during the second half of the year,” he said.
For more than a year, the state-of-the-art facility has emerged from a constant hive of activity.
The new Roma Hospital will have 20 single patient rooms and two birth suites, a new emergency department and allied health treatment areas.
No cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the southwest to date, but SWHHS maintains they are prepared for any potential outbreak, especially as restrictions are further eased this weekend.
“The South West Hospital and Health Service has comprehensive plans in place for the appropriate management of any cases of coronavirus within the region,” the spokesman said.
