Roma golfer storms Qld titles with sensational back 9
GOLF: Roma's very own Tania Beck has taken out the Queensland Women's Sandgreen division three at Tambo, claiming top spot after a narrowly edging the rest of the competition.
In cold but sunny conditions, Ms Beck performed strongly over with a 175 while Heidi Howard was her closest competitor finishing with 185.
Ms Beck said she set up her victory with a strong start to the weekend which then continued into the Sunday.
"I had a extremely good day one, with a 92 off the stick and then found myself four shots off the lead on day two,” she said.
"I wasn't thinking about winning - I usually look forward to these events to catch up with friends - so I never put pressure on myself.
"I knew I would have a 45 on the front nine and then just focused on playing my last 9 in a relaxed state.
"When I got back to the clubhouse that's when I realised how well I had done.
Ms Beck went on to score a 40 on the back nine, a result that proved good enough to earn her a well-earned victory on a green that offered plenty of tricks.
"It was a challenging course with a few water hazards,” she said.
"With the dry weather, you had to place the ball in the right spots, which is what I ended up doing and why I went on a good run.”
