Roma friends share history behind deb ball dresses
THE similarities that Jolie Allwood and Georgia Walton share don’t just end with them attending the same debutante ball – they also both have great stories about their dress choices.
The best friends, who share plenty of the same interests and hobbies, have picked outfits their own relatives have worn in the past.
Georgia wore her mother’s wedding dress to the St Paul’s Anglican Church Debutante Ball on Saturday night, while Jolie went with the dress her aunt wore to her own deb ball.
“We took the train up, but that was it – otherwise it’s the same dress,” Georgia said.
Jolie said her aunt was the one who came up with the idea to pass down the dress to her niece.
“She suggested it – she got it to fit and it was all good,” she said.
The pair of 16-year-olds were part of 17 debutantes and their partners who made quite an entrance at the Roma Cultural Centre, with more than 300 people looking on.
