Roma Cities see chance go begging after loss to Chinchilla

ROMA Cities A-Grade captain Matt Waites could barely hide his disappointment - he knew an opportunity had gone begging.

Waites and his team-mates will now have to play the unpredictable St George side next week after letting a second-half lead slip against the Chinchilla Bulldogs.

In yet another two-point game, the Gladiators were downed 22-20 at Bassett Park, with Chinchilla now through to their third straight grand final and able to enjoy a week off.

The 21-year-old skipper wasn't mincing words after the game at the prospect of playing the Saints next Sunday.

"It's terrible mate - it's not something you want to do,” he said.

"We didn't make the most of our opportunities when we had them down in their end.

"We were down there plenty of times but we didn't make the most of what we had.”

In more positive news for the Gladiators, their under-18s side will play a fourth-consecutive grand final after beating Chinchilla 26-14.
