Roma Cities continue stellar season with win against Magpies
Rugby League: Roma Cities continued its winning streak for the season, with a convincing 40-6 victory against the Mitchell Magpies on Saturday.
A-grade coach Scott Hilton knew it was going to be a tough game against the Magpies at their home ground so was pleased with how the team worked together.
"The boys defended amazingly, they kept the Magpies from scoring pretty much the whole game,” Hilton said.
"They go hard in training week in and week out and it's showing in their games.
"We're working for each other and doing it for each other so I really couldn't ask for anything more.”
Jackson Green was a standout player in the game, performing fantastically in attack and scoring two tries for the home side.
Thomas Packer's unbelievable defence stopped Magpies in their tracks every opportunity they had, leaving them with only one try the whole game.
Coming up against the Wallumbilla-Surat Redbulls at their home ground this weekend, Cities will have something to prove after their only loss for the season came the last time the teams played.
After leading at half time, the boys went down by a try after Redbulls managed to score with two minutes to go.
Hilton will be getting the boys to focus on their intensity and consistency in training this week so the same mistake doesn't happen again.
"We have to be on for the full 80 minutes this time,” Hilton said.
"We went to sleep for a while in our first match-up against them and they were able to score in the dying minutes which cost us the game.
"We want to make sure we're doing all the little things right.”
