RODEO: While a bout of wet weather has seen the iconic Roma Charity Rodeo postponed, the Maranoa Team Penning association aren't worried about rescheduling the event.

Maranoa Team Penning secretary Tina Hamilton confirmed that the Charity Rodeo has been postponed to a later date, due to wet weather making the arena to wet for use, and the association would look into alternate arrangements for the community event.

Ms Hamilton said it was difficult to get the event rescheduled this close to the original date, with so many organisers needing to be updated.

"There's difficulty in getting it rescheduled, because we've got to notify officials and the stock transporters, get insurance companies back on board, reschedule the musicians and bartenders and other entertainment acts, all sorts of communication,” she said.

"So the only thing we can do is postpone it until further notice.

"We'd like to give a huge thanks to our sponsors for supporting us.”

But the situation isn't doom-and-gloom at all, with a rescheduled date just on the horizon after the wet weather subsides.

"It's disappointing that it's been knocked back, but we're happy to reschedule,” Ms Hamilton said.

"The Rodeo tries to help all sorts of other charities out in the region, so we invite the Lions Club and Rotary along to help with food. It's there to help boost other local organisations.”

Now in its 5th year running, the Charity Rodeo has become an annual event for the local community, with its proceeds going to LifeFlight for financial assistance.

In 2015, the Rodeo raised up to $7000.

With this year's event now inviting more sponsors, the committee is hoping to split the proceeds between LifeFlight and other organisations like the Amby Historical Committee, the Wallumbilla Rural SES and Apex Roma.
