Roma branch Cancer Council Queensland caps off year with win

THE Roma branch of the Queensland Cancer Council has capped off an incredible year with an award.

The branch, which raised a whopping $49,311.83 at this year's Relay for Life event, took home the Spirit Award for South-West Queensland as part of Cancer Council Queensland's CancerFREE Challenge.

Roma raised $57,246 in 2015 - something president Jenny Ferry said could not have been possible without the help of the community.

"We could not have won this prestigious CancerFREE Challenge Spirit Award without the support of our incredible community, who go above and beyond in supporting us no matter how tough times are," she said.

"I'd like to thank our new and old committee members for their efforts, we have had a very successful year because of their hard work."

Ms Ferry said members and those interested in joining were encouraged to come along to the next meeting on Tuesday, February 16, at 5.30pm at Pumps N Solar Roma.
