Roma artist giving back to hospital with gorgeous quilt

MAVIS Bunt has had needed the help of Roma Hospital on more than one occasion in her life – which is why the decision was so easy for her to help them.

The Roma artist will be raffling off an incredible quilt at her first ever art exhibit in July, with all money raised from it going towards the Roma Hospital Auxiliary.

Ms Bunt, who has witnessed 20 members of her family battle cancer over the years, said she was certain the money was going to a worthy cause.

“I’ve needed the support of the hospital over the last 20 years – the auxiliary provide both patient and carer comfort,” she said.

Hospital Auxiliary publicity officer Marisa Grulke said Ms Bunt would be able to see what the money goes towards within the hospital walls.

“If a person sees something they want to donate, they can give is to the auxiliary,” she said.

“The money will go where she wants it to go and we’ll work with her on it.”

The Hospital Auxiliary have been involved in dozens of projects that have improved the facilities, equipment and comfort up at the hospital.

While quilting has been a hobby of Ms Bunt’s for more than 20 years, she only took up art about a decade ago.

Around 30 pieces will be on display at the exhibition at Roma’s Walk of Art on Hawthorne St on July 17.
