Rodeo action enthrals visitors

RODEO: The XXXX Easter Po Rodeo delighted hordes of enthusiasts on Sunday night as they witnessed some stand-up displays of roping, bull and bronc riding and barrel racing.

The theme of the night was a NSW versus Queensland narrative with many riders from both states featuring in a full schedule of events.

Winning the headline open bull-riding event was Justin Paton from Nebo who scored a 78 for his overall performance which was enough to edge his closest competitors, Josh Cavanagh by a single point.

Race caller, Larry Cann, said that he was impressed by some of the performances throughout the afternoon and evening.

"So far it has been quite a high standard event, especially in the team roping which has probably been the standout,” he said.

"We've seen 5.75 as the current leader in the competition and going into the night round we've also had a 6.2 and 6.3.”

"And of course, we've also had the steer wrestling which saw the two time Australian champion Cameron Bell slam one down scoring a 3.95 and it doesn't get much quicker than that.”

Cameron Bell's time would not be beaten throughout the night and he went on to finish in first place.
