Roar defender Bowles ruptures ACL

FOOTBALL: Brisbane Roar defender Daniel Bowles will miss the rest of the A-League season after scans confirmed he ruptured his ACL.

The 25-year-old, who can play in any position in the back four, was injured in the final two minutes of the 2-2 draw with Melbourne City at AAMI Park on Saturday night.

Bowles went for an MRI scan on Monday where it was revealed he ruptured his right ACL and will now require reconstructive knee surgery.

The defender also suffered some associated damage to surrounding cartilage which will also be attended to in his operation.

Surgery will now be performed as soon as possible to allow rehabilitation and recovery to start.

Bowles arrived back in Brisbane following Saturday's game in a wheelchair with officials fearing the worst and now those fears have been realised.
