Road crews lose jobs

AN estimated eight staff from the Roma TMR and RoadTek team will lose their jobs, according to the transport and main roads state minister.

A spokesperson for the Minster for Transport and Main Roads Scott Emerson confirmed the job cuts yesterday.

"The projected $100 billion of debt left to us by Labor means it is vital we make the tough decisions to ensure Transport and Main Roads can continue to deliver high quality projects," a ministerial representative said.

"Specifically in the Roma area there will be no changes to customer service centres."

In the 2012-2013 Queensland Budget the State Government announced there would be a total of 1450 transport and main road staff redundancies across the state.

Transport and main roads had the second highest job cuts in the State Budget across all sectors.

The department comes second only to health which will have 4140 staff made redundant across the state.
