REVEALED: The best place to buy a burger in Roma
SERVING up their speciality of homemade burgers has scored one local cafe the title of ‘Best Burger in the Maranoa’.
Having always had a passion for food, Beck Swan owner of Beck’s Chopping Board said she was very proud of her team to win this award.
With 12 nominations and almost 200 votes, the winner of the best burger in the region was a tight race.
The cafe was just in front with 27 per cent of votes, compared to second place winners Blue Shed Fish and Chips with 25 per cent.
But the cafe that has been serving locals for just five months took the win with numerous community members drooling over their chicken and avocado burger.
“That’s my personal favourite too,” Ms Swan said.
“With all our burgers, we make our own patties which is really important to me.
“We get our beef from a local family business – HPW wagyu and we are lucky to work alongside them.
“We are stoked that the community love our burgers and our efforts have paid off and we just thrilled about that.”
Ms Swan said while the current times have taken a toll on the business, the support of the community has been the biggest help.
“We’ve only been running for five months,” she said.
“While this time of year was meant to be our busiest time, which we’ve missed out on greatly, like all the other businesses in town, we will just look forward to next year.
“Especially because we will be a bit more established.
“The cafe is still running really well, our deliveries and the community has been so supportive.
“We get a lot of big orders from the schools and hospitals which help enormously.”
Ms Swan said the business had to learn to adjust due to the current climate.
“We’ve just learnt to get on and do what we can do best,” she said.
“Lucky to be able to keep my good bunch of employees and give them the hours they deserve, I’ve been really lucky in that sense.”
Cafe 54 came in third place with 12 per cent of the vote.
