REVEALED: Major Roma event to return in 2021

AFTER most of Queensland’s major tourism events were shut down due to the COVID pandemic crisis, one exciting event is returning for 2021 and could draw thousands of people to the southwest.

The Easter in the Country committee held their AGM on October 16 where they decided to bring the festival back for 2021.

Recently re-elected president Jenny Flynn said Easter in the Country will be held between April 1 and 5 next year.

“We’ve already got good bookings for camping - we’re very positive about that,” Mrs Flynn said.

Special guests coming to Roma for the week include country music singer Lee Kernaghan and the Wolfe Brothers.

Mrs Flynn said about 12,000 - 15,000 people could attend the event, who could spend their money at local businesses, and she believes it will be bigger than Dalby’s Delicious and Delightful festival.

But the event will need to be financed, with the committee acknowledging a need for sponsorship for the event.

“We know that’s tough at the moment but that’s essentially how community organisations continue to thrive,” she said.

“We’re really conscious that we need to run next year, because two years without an income will wipe us out.”

The committee is currently setting up their ticketing and have recently launched their new website in preparation for next year’s event.

Committee positions that were filled in the AGM include:

President - Jenny Flynn

Vice-President - Not filled

Secretary - Carly Remfrey

Treasurer - Peter Flynn
