Renovated Queens Arms rocking new look

COUNTRY music legend James Blundell provided the musical notes to ring in a new era at the Queens Arms Hotel when he entertained guests at the renovated pub's official opening on Thursday night.

Owner Peter Stark said his main aim was to restore the 100-year-old pub to its former glory.

"Everyone has talked about how popular it used to be, so our main focus is getting it back to that,” Mr Stark said.

Haylee Minness said the pub was dark before the makeover but said its new look was fresh and open.

"It looks like a modern pub which is exactly what Roma needs,” she said.

Mr Stark said he was also passionate about live music and had already locked in six months worth of Brisbane-based artists to perform at Queens Arms.

"James Blundell is the first stage of that and we really wanted to showcase to the town how committed we are to live music,” he said.

Before Blundell began his set he said it was great to see pubs putting money back into music rather than the pokies.
