The reminder comes after multiple calls were made direct to the rural fire station after a large grass fire broke out at Pristine Pl, Dundowran Beach on Friday afternoon.

Multiple crews battled the grass fire after it broke out about 3.30pm.

Torquay Fire Station Officer Jason McCloskey said to allow for the quickest response to any emergency, 000 was the first point of call.

FIRE UPDATE

The grass fire was believed to be about 50 metres from a home.

Multiple trees were alight in the area, however good fire breaks were in place.

The fire was started by a backyard burn.
