Red-headed duo ParisLane coming to Roma
THEY'VE played on X-Factor and Australia's Got Talent - now Andy and Stevie Mac have set their sights on conquering the Australian music landscape.
The red-headed duo, who go by their performance name ParisLane, will be in Roma on Saturday night to entertain locals with a mix of covers and original music.
The pair are quite open and frank about their music goals, having struggled for decades in heavy metal before moving across to a more accessible sound.
"We wanted to produce more quality work and we started asking ourselves 'what do people want to hear?',” Stevie said.
"The reality is you have to be a businessperson if you want to succeed in this.
"It's about not what I want to say, it's about what people want to hear. We work from that framework.”
One unexpected side-effect to ParisLane's time on television was the emphasis on aesthetics.
"It actually was eye-opening for us, when X-Factor mainly highlighted that we were good-looking and funny, and that it didn't matter what quality of music we played,” Stevie said.
"That was further proof that we could succeed if we worked at it and wrote good music.”
"It highlighted things we weren't aware of,” Andy added.
"At the time it was a very negative experience until it launched on TV and (then) we were in the mind-set that we weren't going to give up on our dreams.
The boys enjoyed a surreal experience with the X-Factor competition in 2012, where they collected more than 700 Facebook likes in one evening after their audition broadcast.
"Getting that sort of traffic on your own is exceptionally difficult, so that's what TV will give you,” Andy said.
The brothers will be performing their latest single I'm Coming Home among many others.
Catch them at the Royal on Ninety-Nine from 8pm on Saturday.
