Red Bulls topple Chinchilla

THE Wallumbilla-Surat Red Bulls' strong start to the season continued at the weekend after toppling reigning premiers Chinchilla.

The Red Bulls travelled down the Warrego to take on Chinchilla and returned home 32-28 winners.

After Chinchilla went into the break leading 18-10, the Red Bulls turned the game on its head to come away with a four-point victory.

Red Bulls coach Les Allwood said although he was happy to come away with a win, his team's defensive effort was disappointing.

"We missed a lot of one-on-one tackles and it let us down," he said.

"But we came out in the second half and played with more control and worked the footy a lot better."

In a passion-filled match, a couple of minor scuffles between the teams erupted in the second half after the Red Bulls' Jason Smith was sin-binned for a spear tackle.

But the disruption didn't faze the Red Bulls, as Kurt Rowbothom sealed victory for the visitors when he found a gap in the Bulldogs line and barged through three defenders to cross with only four minutes to go.

The Red Bulls victory was even sweeter with the club being low on numbers for the clash.

"It's always good to win games away from home as well," Allwood said.

"We've won three out of four games this year and we are going pretty well."
