MANY people will share the grief expressed by "retired" Mary Valley Rattler volunteer Ron Stephens on Wednesday.

And many will be hoping security video footage will allow the police to act against those responsible for extreme damage at Old Gympie Railway Station during the week.

"It's just pure vandalism. I'm disgusted," he said.

And Rattler Railway Company director Garry Davison says he hopes the courts will give the perpetrators the chance to repair the damage they have done, as they carry out a sentence of community service.

The Rattler has enough trouble as it is and needs the whole community behind it if it is to survive, as it must.

We have all done silly things, but equally we all must accept responsibility, even for honest errors, let alone vandalism.
