Raid allegedly discovers military ordinance, guns, and drugs

POLICE have charged a man with a number of drug and weapon offences following the execution of a search warrant at an address in Mackay yesterday.

Around 11.50am, officers from the Mackay Property Taskforce executed a search warrant at a Wellington Street address where it will be alleged that officers located a sum of drugs, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, firearms, stolen property, and military ordinance.

Specialist members from the Australian Defence Force travelled from Townsville to safely remove the military ordinance.

A 26-year-old Mackay man has been charged with three counts of possess shortened firearms, and receiving tainted property, two counts each of authority required to possess explosives, possess tainted property, and possess utensils or pipes, and one count each of unlawful possession of restricted drugs and unlawful possession of weapons category M.

He was scheduled to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court today.
