RACQ tips price of Coast petrol to stay put over Easter
IT'S eggcellent news for Sunshine Coast motorists filling up their petrol tanks over the holidays.
Unleaded fuel prices are unlikely to change over the four-day break.
Drivers can expect to pay about 133 cents a litre across the region - four cents less than in Brisbane, on 137c, and 11 cents more than in Ipswich, which has the state's lowest average of 122c.
The Coast's average price is one of the cheapest along the Bruce Hwy, but it is higher than Maryborough (129.7c), Gympie (131.4c) and Mackay (131.6c).
In Rockhampton, drivers are paying an average of 136.1c, in Gladstone 135c, Hervey Bay 134c and Bundaberg 133.2c.
RACQ spokeswoman Renee Smith said the region's petrol prices were unlikely to fluctuate wildly.
She said savvy motorists could pay less than the current average.
"If you wait until you're on empty you'll be forced to pull into the nearest service station and pay what
ever it is they're charging," she said.
"We encourage motorists to shop around going into the long weekend.
"Shopping around is so important if you want to save money at the bowser."
Ms Smith said the RACQ hoped to see the prices fall soon.
"Due to a drop in oil prices we'd like to see prices lower across much of Queensland," she said.
