Quilting show set to amaze the public
MITCHELL'S Tricia Kenafake had her loving grand-daughter Colby in mind when she created this colourful quilt.
The long-time member of the Kenniff Country Quilters used the animated film Frozen as the theme for her entry into their annual quilting show.
"I asked her what the quilt should be like and she said it needed to be pretty colours and then I knew she loved Frozen so I combined the two," Ms Kenafake said.
"You should see her bedroom - hopefully this will go with her bed."
Tricia's entry is one of dozens into the show this year, with all the entries currently hanging in the Mitchell Library for judging.
Ms Kenafake said while the Frozen quilt was a relatively short job, some pieces could take huge amounts of time.
"This only took about six weeks, but it can take up to two years to finish a quilt," she said.
"My home has suffered a little to make time for the quilt show."
President Pat Small said the Kenniff Country Quilters had about a dozen members and they had come from all across the district to sew once a month.
"It's addictive - it's a bit like yoga in that you can shut everything out," she said.
"At the moment I'm working on a quilt for my grandson, he just got married. Our motto is: patchwork forever, housework whenever."
The quilting show is on display until July 11 and you can judge which of yours is the favourite.
