SKY HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT: State MP for Warrego Ann Leahy says Queensland is in a job crisis.

Warrego MP slams Labor for unemployment crisis

WITH Queensland now the highest state for unemployment in Australia, drought stricken communities are now the ones who are taking the biggest hit.

"Queensland has retained the title of the jobless capital of Australia and this is cold comfort for communities already suffering from the drought," Member for Warrego Ann Leahy said.

The state's unemployment rate remained the same at 6.5 per cent (seasonally adjusted) in October - with more than 14,000 jobs lost in the last month.

"Not only has Queensland got a jobs crisis, we have a drought that is knocking the confidence out of primary producers, businesses and communities," Ms Leahy said.

"Queensland is bogged down by the Palaszczuk Labor Government at a time when we need a State Government that will improve job security by building better roads, new dams and delivering cheaper electricity prices."

Ms Leahy believes increased taxes are under the Palaszczuk Government are to blame for Queensland's climbing unemployment rate.

"Business confidence has been smashed by Labor's nine new and increased taxes in the last two years - taxes which are toxic for jobs and growth," she said.

"The worst unemployment rate in the nation, higher taxes, more debt and less infrastructure will be Annastacia Palaszczuk's legacy.

"Only a Deb Frecklington LNP Government will get Queensland working again and create the jobs the state is crying out for, especially in our drought hit regions."
