Pumping up the pressure

MARANOA regional council is turning up the pressure to improve the town's water system with a series of new water projects.

The latest addition is the Miscamble Street Reservoir and Booster System which was brought online on Thursday to improve water pressure, especially during the summer when water usage is at its highest.

Another big upgrade for the town is the water main augmentation projects along the Northern Road, Edwardes St North and Quintin St.

Councillor David Schefe said the upgrades would come as a big boost for the town, which had outgrown its original water main structures.

"The new reservoir and booster system will alleviate pressure issues in the town when combined with our water main upgrades,” he said.

"The mains that were originally put in were for a certain population size.”

"As the town grows - and it has over the years - the mains have become too small,” he said.

"So we've now replaced those with bigger mains.

"As they all begin to come online, people will notice a big difference in the water pressure.”

Finally, a new reservoir and booster system has been installed off Bungil Street with minor pipework, electrical works and dosing still to be completed.

It is anticipated that Bore 12 and the new booster system will be brought online in October.
