Pro Darts Series trophy shared by Taylor and Anderson

AUSTRALIAN No.2 Kyle Anderson and 16-time world champion Phil Taylor have shared News Corp's inaugural International Pro Darts Showdown Series after another night of upsets in Mackay.

Anderson picked up 20 points for winning the final event of the four-week series at Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre on Sunday night.

Those points took him to 60 for the whole event and with Taylor picking up 12 after being sensationally beaten by Brisbane's Raymond Smith in the semi-final in Mackay, it meant the trophy was shared.

Anderson, who defeated Taylor in the last four of the Gold Coast leg of the series, before losing to Dimitri Van den Bergh in the semis in Townsville, saved some of his best darts for the final against Smith.

He eventually ran out a 7-4 winner against Smith, who had spent all his chips in an emotional success over Taylor in the last four in Mackay.

After earlier defeating Gordon G Mathers in the quarter-final, Smith was magnificent as he took a 4-1 lead against Taylor in the last four.

The Power fought back to take the next five legs and looked as if he would seal a place in the final and with it the series success.

But Smith had other ideas and took out double 20 to secure a sensational victory.

Anderson had earlier defeated Narangba's Dave Littleboy 7-1 in the last eight with Taylor beating Andy Hamilton 7-4 and America's John Kuczinski losing to junior world champion Dimitri Van Den Bergh.

Van den Bergh ran stablemate and good friend Anderson close in the semi-final going down 7-6.

Anderson's win in Mackay followed up his final loss to Simon Whitlock on the Gold Coast.

Taylor won the first of the series in Brisbane and he also lost to Van den Bergh in the final in Townsville.

Mackay results:

Quarter finals: Raymond Smith 7 Gordon G Mathers 4, Phil Taylor 7 Andy Hamilton 4, Dimitri Van den Bergh 7 John Kuczinksi 1, Kyle Anderson 7 Dave Littleboy 1

Semi-finals: Raymond Smith 7 Phil Taylor 6, Kyle Anderson 7 Dimitri Van den Bergh 6

Final: Kyle Anderson 7 Raymond Smith 4
