Roma cricket premiers lose final rematch
LAST year's beaten finalists got revenge on the premiers in the opening round of the new Roma and District cricket season last weekend.
Back-to-back premiers Mitchell entertained Souths out west and the visitors went one better this time round with a solid victory and a man of the match performance from bowler Troy Wain
Souths batted first and made an imposing 176.
Kumar Panchall top scored with 46 while Greg Wilkins got 38 and Pete Voll made 32.
Ash Anderson took 2-10 off three overs for Mitchell while B. Currie took 2-1 off one over and Craig Brown 2-22 off eight overs.
In reply, Mitchell were skittled for 107. This was despite the sterling effort of Chris Lethbridge who carried his bat through the innings making 45 not out. Craig Brown made 10.
Troy Wain was the destroyer for Souths, taking an incredible 8-22 off six overs.
Vaughn Clarke took the other 2-16 off 6.
In Roma, Colts took on Wallumbilla.
Wallumbilla opened batting making 9/191, with big contributions from Scott Harland (77) and Danyon Waldron (30).
Joey Packer was the star with the ball, taking 4-40 off six overs
In reply, Colts were bowled out for 81, with Tom Maloney (29) and Jack Just (13 not out) best with the willow.
Ben Waldron took 4-7 off two overs for Wallumbilla.
In Injune a century from man of the man Chris Cant saw the hosts beat newboys Leprechauns by over 100 runs,
