Police warn of scam emails

POLICE are warning people about a new email scam targeting internet users across Queensland.

The scam involves victims opening an email which indicates they have broken the law and are being issued with a subpoena to attend court.

When users click on a link they are directed to a Russian webpage where they are prompted to download an executable application which infects their computer.

Policelink received many calls advising of the email scam last week.

Police are advising not to click on any links or reply to the email but instead delete it from their inbox.
