Plane struck by lightning while landing at Roma Airport

A QANTAS plane travelling from Brisbane has avoided disaster after being struck by lightning on its way into Roma.

The Q400 QantasLink plane, carrying 22 passengers, was struck by lightning on approach to Roma Airport yesterday evening, according to a spokesman.

The aircraft landed without further incident at 5:55pm.

The spokesperson from Qantas said their aircraft were designed to withstand heavy weather such as this.
