Pink Ladies raise more than $60,000 in one day

IN ITS final show, the 2019 South West Toyota Dealers Weengallon Champagne Pink Ladies Day proved to be the biggest and best, raising an impressive $60,000 at the weekend.

The day popped like pink champagne as more than 700 women descended on the tiny town to celebrate the success story that is Weengallon Pink Ladies Day.

Originally, the day began in 2000 with a group of new mums eager to raise money to buy cleaning products for their new kindergarten.

Over the years the fundraiser has grown into one of the most glamorous bush charity days, directing hundreds of thousands of dollars to breast cancer services in the local area.

Weengallon Pink Ladies Day co-ordinator Emma Montgomery said the committee went into overdrive to make their 20th year a day to remember.

"We wanted to really celebrate our day in the red dirt country that has brought such joy, inspiration and support to so many,” she said.

The glamorous guests made their way under a giant balloon arch and through floating bubbles to receive a glass of champagne on their way to shopping at 40 luxury stores.

The atmosphere was electric as ladies lined-up to buy a limited edition tickets in The Diamond Hunter premium raffle prize - the $5000 ring was later won but a very excited Leah Turkington from Talwood.

The ladies spent more than $10,000 in the B&W Rural Adama Art Auction making it a record breaking auction.

Mrs Montgomery said the day was the perfect end to what has been a wild, wonderful, robust ride.

"The committee decided the 20th anniversary was a good time to bring the fund- raiser to a close,” she said.

"That's the last Weengallon as we know it, but there is the chance is may return later in an altered format.”
