Pinaroo residents humming a new tune thanks to donation
YOU’VE heard the expression ‘singing from a different hym sheet’, but the residents of Pinaroo will soon be literally singing from a different songbook.
The aged care facility have been able to order new song books, activities equipment and jigsaw puzzles thanks to a $1000 donation from Ray White Rural’s Rob Wildermuth.
The rural livestock agent said he wanted to give back to the centre after witnessing how well one of his relatives was treated by the staff.
“We see Pinaroo as a big part of the Maranoa and we have clients with relatives here,” he said.
“It’s a way of giving back to clients in a way, because this facility gives the ability for locals to stay local.
“It was donated so it would go towards the activities side of things – it’s important they get this kind of interaction.”
Activities director Karen Dries said the most immediate order was for new songbooks, with the old ones so dilapidated they needed sticky-tape to be held together.
“We discussed it with the residents and they agreed we needed new books,” she said.
“We’re also going to replenish the art supplies and buy bowling skittles and big jigsaw puzzles.”
