Pedestrian seriously injured in hit-and-run
POLICE are investigating after a man was struck by a car at Surfers Paradise yesterday afternoon.
Initial investigations indicate the incident occurred on Laycock Street around 4.45pm with a black car striking a pedestrian who had been standing beside a parked vehicle talking to the driver
The car then also sideswiped the parked vehicle before leaving the scene without stopping.
The pedestrian, a 29-year-old Labrador man was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious leg injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
A man in the parked vehicle was not injured.
The vehicle involved is described as a black Holden Cruze sedan bearing Queensland registration 816VJS.
Police, including officers from the Forensic Crash Unit, are investigating the circumstances around the incident and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
