Patchworker's stitch for love

Injune Creek Patchworker's put their handiwork to good use and help families with premature babies.

Quilts of Love are handmade quilts sewn by community members and given to parents who have had stillborn, neonatal death and premature babies.

Fiona Vincent from the Injune Creek Patchworker's said families in the Roma Hospital will now get the chance to wrap their babies in a Quilt of Love.

On Wednesday, Ms Vincent presented parents Fiona and Cody Nelms with a Quilt of Love for their premature baby Rahni, who was born on March 4, just 34 weeks and five days into the pregnancy.

"I had heard of these before," Mrs Nelms said.

"But it's so wonderful to actually have one.

"It's beautiful and it's definitely something that we will have forever."

Ms Vincent said Quilts of Love hold the maximum amount of love sewn stitch by stitch by kind charitable ladies.

"The quilts provide comfort to help ease the grief of parents whose little angels just aren't strong enough to stay with them," she said.

"Come what may, the parents keep the quilt as a personal reminder of the loving care their baby received from the nursing staff."
